Caldwell Model 20 Low Headroom Multiple Spread Lifting Beam 172Inches

Low Headroom Multiple Spread Lifting Beam for Cranes & Hoists

The Caldwell Model 20 Low Headroom Multiple Spread Lifting Beam is designed for lifting applications where overhead clearance is limited but safe, balanced load handling is critical. Engineered for use with overhead cranes and hoists, the Model 20 provides multiple lifting spreads, adjustable hook locations, and a compact low-headroom design that maximizes lifting height without sacrificing versatility. It is widely used in manufacturing, steel fabrication, precast concrete plants, warehouses, construction sites, and industrial facilities.

Manufactured in the USA by Caldwell, the Model 20 is built to meet demanding industrial lifting requirements while complying with applicable ASME below-the-hook lifting device standards.

Key Features & Benefits

Low Headroom Design

Designed specifically for applications where crane hook height is limited, allowing maximum lifting height without requiring additional rigging.

Multiple Adjustable Lift Spreads

Standard models include multiple hook positions to accommodate various load sizes.

• 3 ft. and 4 ft. beams include 2 lifting spreads
• 6 ft. beams and longer include 3 lifting spreads

The standard spread positions include:

• Outside spread
• Middle spread (outside spread minus 1 ft.)
• Inside spread (outside spread minus 2 ft.)

Swivel Hooks with Safety Latches

Heavy-duty swivel hooks come standard to simplify load positioning while integrated safety latches help improve lifting safety.

Wide Range of Capacities

Available in numerous capacities and beam lengths, allowing contractors and manufacturers to match the lifting beam to their specific application. Standard models are available from 1/2 ton up to 20 tons, with custom configurations available.

Heavy-Duty Steel Construction

Fabricated from structural steel and finished for long service life in demanding industrial environments.

Common Applications

Steel Fabrication

Safely lift structural steel members, fabricated assemblies, and weldments.

Precast Concrete

Handle wall panels, beams, columns, and architectural concrete products.

Manufacturing

Lift machinery, fabricated components, tooling, and production equipment.

Construction

Ideal for structural erection, equipment installation, and material handling.

Warehousing

Move oversized loads while maintaining balanced lifting points.

Industrial Maintenance

Lift pumps, motors, tanks, compressors, and heavy equipment during maintenance operations.

Technical Specifications

Why Choose the Caldwell Model 20?

The Model 20 combines the lifting height advantages of a low-headroom beam with the flexibility of multiple hook positions. Rather than purchasing several fixed lifting beams, operators can quickly adjust hook locations to accommodate different load widths, improving efficiency while maintaining safe lifting practices. Its rugged steel construction, ASME-compliant design, and extensive range of capacities make it one of the most versatile lifting beams available for industrial and commercial operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a low headroom lifting beam?

A low headroom lifting beam minimizes the distance between the crane hook and the load, allowing operators to maximize available lifting height in facilities with limited overhead clearance.

How many lifting spread positions are available?

Models 3 and 4 feet long include two spread positions, while beams 6 feet and longer include three adjustable spread positions.

What industries commonly use the Model 20?

It is widely used in manufacturing, steel fabrication, construction, precast concrete production, industrial maintenance, warehousing, and heavy equipment handling.

Are custom configurations available?

Yes. Caldwell offers optional hook locations, additional hooks, pin-type bails, shackle lugs, and other custom configurations to meet specific lifting requirements.

Does the Model 20 meet ASME standards?

Yes. The Model 20 is manufactured to comply with applicable ASME below-the-hook lifting device standards.
