The Caldwell Model CPL Leveling Pipe Lifter is a heavy-duty rigging tool designed for lifting, positioning, and aligning concrete pipe sections up to 8 feet in length in a single controlled operation.
It is commonly used in utility, sewer, and water infrastructure projects where accurate pipe placement and safe handling are required.
The CPL series is engineered with an adjustable leveling bail system that adapts to different pipe lengths, allowing operators to fine-tune positioning during installation. A built-in pipe stop helps guide the pipe into final alignment, improving installation speed and consistency on job sites.

Adjustable Leveling System
The CPLs defining feature is its adjustable leveling bail, which allows operators to balance and position pipe during lifting. This reduces the need for manual repositioning once the pipe is suspended, improving both safety and installation efficiency.
The system is designed to help maintain control over long pipe sections while aligning them for proper joint connection.
Laser Alignment Capability
The built-in laser target holder allows operators to align pipe placement during installation. This feature supports more precise grading and alignment, especially in trenching applications where accuracy is critical.
(Note: laser target components such as 2x4 and screws are not included.)
Jobsite Benefits
- Improves pipe alignment accuracy during installation
- Reduces manual handling and repositioning
- Speeds up repetitive pipe laying operations
- Supports safer stand-off lifting practices
- Helps maintain consistent installation quality across pipe runs
Construction & Safety Design
The CPL series is built for demanding field conditions in civil and utility construction. Its steel frame construction and engineered lifting geometry are designed to support repeated lifting cycles while maintaining controlled load balance.
The positioning handle and bail adjustment system help operators maintain safer distances from suspended loads during alignment and placement.
Compliance Standards
- ASME B30 standards compliance
- Designed for below-the-hook lifting applications
- Engineered for utility-grade infrastructure use
